On the occasion of the Day of the Slavic Enlighteners and Teachers or the Day of the Thessalonian Brothers St. Cyril and Methodius on May 24th, the exhibition “Old Books from the Museum Depot” was opened in the premises of the National Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments and Museum – Štip.
The exhibition features church books in Old Church Slavic, which were used in the churches of the Bregalnica region and have been collected over the last 50 years at the National Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments and Museum – Štip.
The oldest books date back to the 18th century, including an Archpriest’s Office from 1721 and a Hexameron from 1744, while the majority are from the 19th century. The collection includes Gospels, Apostles, Menaia, Archpriest’s Offices, Psalters, Octoechos, Hexameron, Irmologion, Triodion, Lenten Triodion, Trebnik, Prayer Book, and a Collection of Great Feasts.
